Collaborative Law

Collaborative Law is a relatively new process in the UK. Its aim is to get each party together with their respective lawyers and negotiate an amicable settlement without going to court. This will be achieved in a way which will be in the best interests of everyone, especially children. The collaborative route is a creative rather than destructive way to achieve a mutually agreeable solution following a separation or the breakdown of the family unit. The outcome of the collaborative process is fully client-driven resulting in a fairer and more constructive solution than through court proceedings.

Collaborative Law encourages communication and helps maintain relationship, especially as parents if children are involved.

Each party must be represented by a specially trained collaborative lawyer. Both Richard Pennington and Karen Carpenter are Resolution trained and fully qualified to undertake such instructions.
