Ward Gethin Archer opens ninth office in Downham Market

Solicitors Ward Gethin Archer celebrated the opening of their new office in Downham Market on Monday, February 5.

Their new office on London Road is their ninth across Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, a move which reinforces Ward Gethin Archer as one of the region’s largest law firms.

The opening of Ward Gethin Archer’s new Downham Market branch has generated new jobs in the town as well as relocating other existing members of staff, who live locally, from other offices within the company.

It means that their lawyers are now closer to hand for clients old and new in and around Downham Market, giving them improved access to expert legal help and advice on their doorstep. Services include conveyancing, wills, trusts and probate, personal injury, disputes, family law, employment law and commercial.

Adrian Long, Director at Ward Gethin Archer said: “I’m looking forward to heading up our new Downham Market team and helping local residents and businesses with their legal questions and challenges that life brings. From the exciting times of buying your first home to more sombre times of dealing with a loved one’s estate after they have passed away, and everything in between.”

Adrian continued, “And of course, becoming actively involved and taking part in the Downham Market community and future events.”

The new office, located at 21 London Road, is next to Mapus-Smith and Lemmon chartered accountants and was most recently used by the Southery and District Internal Drainage Board as well as once being the location for the town’s registry office.

Chris Dewey, Ward Gethin Archer’s Managing Director, commented: “Being on-hand and available for residents and businesses in Downham Market, so they can access the legal help and support they need when they need it, is something we are really excited about and privileged to be able to do. “

“We strive to understand our client’s needs and provide them with tailored and practical legal advice to help them resolve their issues. Some 85pc of our new cases come from recommendations.”

Ward Gethin Archer is a long established firm of solicitors and notaries in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, currently employing 151 members of staff including lawyers, secretarial and administrative staff. In total, clients have access to more than 420 years of combined qualified lawyer experience.

You can trace the company’s history back to 1785 when Ely based Archer and Archer were formed. Ward Gethin solicitors were founded more recently in May 1976 in King’s Lynn’s Tuesday Market Place, where the company’s head office is still located today. The two companies then merged in May 2012 to form Ward Gethin Archer Ltd.

As well as Ely and King’s Lynn, Ward Gethin Archer’s other offices can be found in Chatteris, Dereham, Heacham, King’s Lynn (Regis Place, Bergen Way), Swaffham and Watton.

As members of Forces Law, staff also regularly visit RAF Marham, RAF Honington and Robertson Barracks in Swanton Morley to provide free legal advice to the members of the Armed Forces.

As well as the opening of their ninth office, it has been a fantastic start to 2018 for Ward Gethin Archer as they have also been named finalists in the King’s Lynn Mayor’s Business Awards in the Customer Care category with the winners to be announced on Friday, March 2.
