Michelle joined WGA in March 2016 as a Conveyancer at the Heacham office having gained over 10 years' experience. Michelle deals with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing matters and is working towards her final CILEx examination having already passed examinations in Conveyancing and Land Law.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys travelling and spending time with her family and friends. Michelle is a member of the Wensum Chapter of BNI (a business networking group) and attends a breakfast meeting each Wednesday. In the past Michelle has jointly organised seven Annual Summer Balls in the town where she lives and raised over £10,000 for charity. She hopes to continue to raise money for charity in the future.

She joined Ward Gethin Archer in September 2016, relocating to Norfolk from the Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire area where she worked for a law firm in St Albans in the residential property team.

Lindsay qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2014, running her own caseload since 2010.

Lindsay was born in Canada, and moved to England a few months later.

Away from the office, Lindsay enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Richard is a solicitor and Consultant in the Ely office. He specialises in Private Client work and flood defence and land drainage matters, but over the years has helped clients with a wide variety of problems.

He is involved with several charities, currently Chairing one of them, in and around Ely, where he has been a city councillor and former Mayor of the city as well as being High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire in 1998.

Sue is a Paralegal at our Dereham office specialising in conveyancing matters. She joined Ward Gethin Archer in October 2014 after may years with the planning department of a Local Authority dealing with agreements between developers and the Local Authority.

She is currently studying with cILEX tutorial college, having recently passed her conveyancing and land law exams.

Sue enjoys family life in a small village with her husband, spending weekends working on their home, taking their dog out for walks and socialising with friends. She has also volunteered as an Appropriate Adult supporting vulnerable persons in custody, an activity she hopes to return to in the near future.

Laura is an agricultural property and commercial law solicitor at our Ely office, having joined the firm in April 2016. Laura qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has experience both in private practice and in-house.

Laura advises on a range of agricultural and commercial property matters, including sales and purchases of farming land, deeds of gift, farm business tenancies, commercial leases, licenses of agricultural land, overage, options, re-mortgages and the grant of covenants and easements. Laura also advises on commercial law matters, including shareholder agreements, share sales and sales of business assets.

In her spare time Laura enjoys travelling, studying art history, line dancing and long walks with her dog.

Karen is a Chartered Legal Executive who heads up the Family Team based at the Ely office, where for over 30 years she has given help and support to all her clients who find themselves in situations of conflict and high emotion.

A member of the Law Society Family Panel and Resolution, Karen has undertaken mediation training and qualified as a Collaborative Lawyer in 2005 (for more information go to www.ccflg.co.uk).

Karen deals with and has experience of all aspects of Family Law including divorce, dissolution of civil partnerships, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and all related financial issues, child welfare including residence orders and assisting grand parents and other family members to obtain Special Guardianship orders together with Step-parent Parental Responsibility Agreements.

Karen is a director of and sits on the management committee of the Ely and Cambridge Contact Centre.

Claire has been with the firm since 1993. She is an Executive within the Wills and Probate Department based at the Watton Office, and she primarily deals with elderly clients by managing their day to day affairs.

She also advises on the registration of Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney as well as the preparing of a Lasting Power. Claire also helps on Court of Protection applications, which are needed when someone loses their mental capacity and there is no Power of Attorney in place, as well as the administration of estates.

Claire's hobbies include gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Sandy is a Licensed Conveyancer in our Chatteris office, and specialises in residential property matters. She joined Ward Gethin Archer in August 2016.

Sandy qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 1997 whilst working at a firm in Cambridge where she originates from. Since qualifying she has gained experience in many areas of residential conveyancing, including leasehold, help to buy, remortgages, transfers of equity and new build transactions.

Away from the office Sandy enjoys swimming, watching all types of sports and has three nephews to entertain. She also has a cat called Spider.

Kim was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 1996 and is also a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Kim deals with all types of private client work in particular Wills, Elderly Client advice, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters, and Administration of Estates.

Outside the office Kim is a motorbike enthusiast, spending many summer weekends away attending various events. Kim also enjoys the outdoors and in particular adventure holidays, which usually consist of forests, wilderness and very few people! Kim confesses her weakness in life is animals, of any kind.

Nicholas is a Private Client Solicitor at our Ely office, having joined Ward Gethin Archer at the start of 2016. He grew up and was educated in York. Nicholas read law at the University of Cumbria in Carlisle, completed the Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University in Newcastle and qualified as a Solicitor in 2015.

Specifically, Nicholas can advise you on preparing a Will, pre and post death tax planning, drawing up a Lasting Power of Attorney and administering an estate when someone has died.

Nicholas is a keen musician, having sung as a tenor Lay Clerk at Carlisle Cathedral for four years as well as being a cellist and pianist.

Desmond is a Director in the Private Client Department, some 25 years a solicitor, with the vast majority of that time spent practicing in Dereham as a Partner with Hood Vores and Allwood specialising in Wills and Tax Planning, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection work and Trusts.

He is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners and was, for a number of years, dual qualified as a financial advisor. He has held many appointments over the years as Charitable Trustee, Clerk to the Income Tax Commissioners, Chair of School Governors and Treasurer of the local PCC.

He has always been, and remains, a keen sportsman, running and playing racket sports, squash and badminton regularly and as much golf as proves possible. He also enjoys watching sport, walking, film, theatre and reading and vegetable gardening.

Jane is a Private Client Solicitor at our Ely office, having joined Ward Gethin Archer in January 2016. Jane qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and specialises in Wills, Inheritance Tax Planning, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection work, Probate and estate administration, elderly client matters and Trusts.

As a parent of two young children Jane has very little spare time but looks forward to a time in the future when she can re-engage with her passions for travel, hill walking, cycling and growing vegetables on her allotment.

Cheryl is a solicitor, Director and Head of the Private Client Department. She advises on wealth management, trusts, probate, wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and elderly client and Court of Protection work and associated tax issues.

She is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) and Association of Contentious Trusts and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

She is also a Notary Public.

Richard Pennington

Richard is a solicitor and Director in our Family, Civil Litigation and Employment departments based in King's Lynn.

Richard became a solicitor in 1986, and has been a Director since May 1991. Richard brings over 20 years of litigation experience and deals with particularly contentious financial issues in divorces for SME owners and their spouses, commercial disputes of all sorts, contentious probate matters and professional negligence disputes for the firm.

Richard is a trained civil litigation mediator, a Member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association and a Resolution Trained Collaborative Family Lawyer able to deal with collaborative work, and is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.

Richard is also the Chair of YMCA Norfolk and a trustee of a number of local charities, a church elder and a member of the Lawyers Christian Fellowship.

Sara Plummer

Sara Plummer

Sara is a solicitor in the Family Law team and works in our Dereham office covering Dereham, Swaffham and Watton. Sara qualified in 2006, joined the firm in October 2008 and has over ten years' experience in Family Law.

Sara advises clients on all aspects of Family Law including divorce, civil partnership dissolution, in particular upon financial issues that follow a relationship breakdown. Sara also specialises in issues regarding children such as child contact arrangements and residence disputes. Sara also deals with advice and preparation of Cohabitation Agreements, Separation Agreements, Pre-Nuptial Agreements and Change of Name Deeds.

Sara is a Resolution Accredited Specialist with particular specialisms in Child Law, private proceedings and financial provision. She is also a member of Resolution, which is an organisation of Family Law that is committed to resolving family disputes in a constructive and conciliatory way. She has also been a trustee of charities that help victims of domestic violence.

Sara is also on the staff liaison committee with the firm. She enjoys keeping fit/relaxing by supporting her local villages with zumba and yoga clubs.

Sandra Rawson

Sandra Rawson

Sandra is a Chartered Legal Executive in the Private Client Team, working primarily from our King's Lynn office. She is our longest standing lawyer and specializes in Private Client work with a wealth of experience.

Sandra advises on the making of wills and the administration of estates after someone has died, as well as the making and registering of Lasting Powers of Attorney and the appointment of deputies through the Court of Protection and managing elderly clients financial affairs.

Sarah is a solicitor and Director in the Personal Injury team.

She has been with the firm since 1994, initially as a trainee, qualifying as a solicitor in 1996.

Sarah specialises in industrial injury cases including asbestos exposure, occupational asthma and accidents at work generally. She also deals with claims involving medical negligence, road traffic accidents, accidents abroad and occupier's liability accidents. She is a member of the Law Society's Personal Accreditation Scheme.

Sarah is also a Notary Public.

When time allows, Sarah enjoys playing the piano and bassoon (albeit not at the same time).

Having trained and qualified as a solicitor in 2010 with a niche commercial firm in Hampshire, Maria joined Ward Gethin Archer in April 2016 and is based in our office in Ely and specialises in civil litigation and employment law, and is able to help and advise clients on a wide variety of dispute matters in various areas of law, for example commercial and consumer contracts, negligence claims, Landlord and Tenant matters. Maria also has experience in employment law and can provide advice on a range of Employment Law matters for clients both from an employer and employee perspective.

Maria is an experienced civil litigation solicitor who has until recently been working in the public sector for an NHS Trust, where she adapted her legal skills to assist an organisation working within a challenging financial environment, and brings a practical solution focus to her legal work

Deborah is a Paralegal in our Private Client/ Wills and Probate Department at the King's Lynn office. Deborah joined Ward Gethin Archer in March 2017. Deborah graduated with a law degree in 2016 and is currently studying her Legal Practice Course at BPP University in Cambridge. Deborah previously worked as a Paralegal for 2 years for a local firm specialising in debt recovery and family law matters. Deborah previously volunteered with the King's Lynn Citizens Advice Bureau and is currently a member of the Law Society Junior Lawyers Division.

David is the firm's first non-lawyer manager, an accountant by profession, and the firm's Finance Director.

He has responsibility for managing all aspects of the firm's finances, including client money transactions, and is also the nominated Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).

He joined Ward Gethin Archer in January 2015, having previously spent nearly 15 years in a finance and operations role in another law firm.

Outside of work David enjoys photography, running and walking with his family and dog.

John Thorogood

John Thorogood

John is a Director working in our Ely office and is a specialist in commercial, agricultural and residential property transactions. John qualified as a solicitor in 1982 and joined the firm in 1985.

His work encompasses sales and purchases of agricultural land, including farm sales and purchases, the sale and purchase of development sites; legal development of commercial industrial estates and the preparation of options, pre-emption and joint venture agreements. John also deals with partnership formation and franchise agreements as well as business start-ups.

John is a member of the Solicitors Benevolent Association and the Law Society Property section. He was a board member of Kings Forest Housing Association, and is currently Chairman of the Eric Drummond Mercer Trust, a charitable trust dealing with people with learning disabilities. John is a former Round Tabler and now a member of the Ely 41 Club (the ex-Round Tablers organisation). He is a member of Ely XT Limited, a charitable organisation responsible for organising the annual firework display in Cherry Hill Park, Ely. John was also the former Registrar to the Dean and Chapter of Ely Cathedral and was a former Governor of Soham Village College from 1996-2007, being Chair of the Governing Body from 1998-2007.

He is a keen cyclist and walker, having taken part in the National Three Peaks Challenge and having successfully trekked to Everest Base Camp.

Claire joined WGA in June 2016 in our Dereham Office as a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor.

Claire qualified in 2012, originally specialising in Criminal Litigation but found her vocation with residential conveyancing in 2013, specialising in all areas of Residential Conveyancing including buying and selling both freehold and leasehold properties, transfers of equity and re-mortgages.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys many outdoor activities from running and cycling to walking in the Lake District but also enjoys quality time with family and friends.

Simon is a Director in the firm. He joined the firm in 2006 to lead the expansion of the Commercial Property team in King's Lynn. Simon's client base includes a wide range of owner-managed businesses, property developers, entrepreneurs within the leisure industry, and established larger organisations.
